On November 28, 2013, the first Chang'an international freight train from Xi'an to Alma-Ata in Kazakhstan departed. On November 29, the freight train from Xi'an to Zhem in Kazakhstan was dispatched, marking that China Railway Express (Chang'an) reached the world outside China.

On August 20, 2020, with the long whistle, the first China Railway Express (Chang'an) to Central and Eastern Europe carrying 41 containers slowly departed from Xi'an Port. In the next 13 days, the train would exit China through Alashankou Port, pass through Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine, enter Hungary through Zahony Port, use Budapest as a hub node, and reach cities such as Vienna in Austria, Ploiesti in Romania, Milan in Italy, and Istanbul in Turkey through railway distribution.

This marks the successful operation of the first China-Europe Railway Express (Xi'an) with a full timetable both domestically and internationally.
